Turbine Driven Auxiliary Feedwater Requirements R.
E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 50-244 Pump Operability
Dear Mr. Russell:
This letter responds to a
- request, from your Staff that we document the additional requirements that we have placed on the operability of the Turbine Driven Auxiliary Feedwater Pump (TDAFP).
Ginna Procedure A-52.4 has been revised to state:
"In accordance with Technical Specification 3.4.1(c) and 3 '.2(b'~,
the following is provided as additional administrative requirements to clarify operability.
In order for the TDAFWP to be considered
- operable, at least 1/2 feedwater flowpaths to either Steam Generator and 1/2 steam supply paths from either steam generator must be operable (including valves and piping). If the TDAFWP or both feedwater flowpaths or both steam supply paths are inoperable, restore within 7 days or be in HSD within the next 6 hours6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br /> and at an RCS Temperature
< 350 F within the following 6 hours6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br />".
In addition, the operators have been provided with the additional guidance that, for compliance with Technical Specifi-cation 3.4.2(c),
both TDAFP steam supply systems and both TDAFP feedwater flowpaths must be operable.
We are preparing a proposed Technical Specification change to incorporate additional requirements for the TDAFP system.
It should be noted that -the, proposed changes may differ from our current interim requirements.
Very truly yours, R.
C.
