Dear Mr. Stahle:
Rochester Gas and Electric has recently been advised of NRC intentions to resume the licensing review of our Inservice Pump and Valve Testing (IST) Program.
In accordance with your request, a set of PAID drawings is enclosed and another set is being forwarded to your EGGG contract
- reviewer, Mr. H. Rockhold.
The drawings, itemized in Attachment B, are the latest revisions of drawings which were furnished to the NRC earlier in a different format.
A copy of Revision 8 to the Ginna Station Quality Assurance Manual, Appendix C, which describes the Inservice Pump and Valve Testing Program for the January 1,
1981 through December 31, 1989 testing period, is also enclosed.
A copy is also being provided to Mr. Rockhold.
Since several years have lapsed since our IST program was actively under review during 1981 and 1982, a summary of the status of previous reviews has been compiled to show which portions of the program have been reviewed and approved with a Safety Evaluation Report.
A summary of the NRC and RG&E correspondence beginning with the September 4,
1980 RGGE submittal for the 10 year program extension has been tabulated as Attachment A to this letter.
The prior review was coordinated by Messrs.
V. Nerses and A. Wang and resulted in an SER issued on May 26, 1981 which endorsed the valve program.
The SER required action on three items.
RG&E responded to the three items in a letter dated August 26, 1981 and an Appli-cation for Amendment to revise the Technical Specifications dated September 8,
1982.
NRC review of these submittals remains to be completed.

During 1982, several phone calls pertaining to the pump program resulted in a December 21, 1982 submittal which justified the exclusion of several pumps from the Ginna program.
Other requested changes and clarifications to our program submittal resulted in Revision 3 to the program which was also submitted on December 21, 1982.
It was believed that an SER for the pump program would be provided in early 1983.
In summary, the NRC has been provided with the information necessary for review completion and SER issuance, including Revision 8 to the program provided with this letter.
A signif-icant NRC review of the Ginna IST pump and valve program was performed in 1981 and 1982 resulting in partial approval of the program.
