Dear Mr. Lear:
As a result of our meeting with the NRC staff on January 15I 1987I and a subsequent telephone conversation of February 2, Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation with our vendor> Combustion Engineering> will modify certain models in the Combustion Engineering Upper Plenum Refill/Reflood (CEUPR) computer code and include additional material in our Upper Plenum Injection (UPI) topical report.
This will result in a change to our schedule for comoletion of the work.
This change results in a two month delay in the date given in the reference for submittal of the final portion of the detailed topical report describing the generic methodology for the UPI task.
However< the restructured schedule results in submission of a very significant portion of the topical report that portion which describes the Combustion Engineering Upper Plenum Refill/Reflood (CEUPR) computer code on the date indicated in the referenced letter for submission of the complete topical report.
With the restructured schedulei that portion of the topical report which describes CEUPR, including the verification of CEUPR by comoarisons with test dataI will be submitted by March 31, 1987< and the complete topical report by May 31I 1987.
From our conversations with the NRC staffi we understand that this schedule for submission of the UPI topicals'ill cause a similar delay in the Staff's schedule for comoletion of the review of the generic methodology.
The Staff's review of the generic methodology is now scheduled for completion in March 1988 and the SER issued in June 1988.
The plant specific analysis will be submitted approximately four months after the SER is issued.
