Dear Mr. Brunner:

In accordance with the above subject which stated "As a result of the inspection conducted on July 1, 1981 through July 31, 1981 and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (October 7, 1980), the following violation was identified:

Technical Specification 6.8.1 states in part, 'Written procedures shall be established, implemented and main-'ained covering the activities referenced below:

The applicable procedures recommended in Appendix "A" of Regulatory Guide 1.33, November 1972...'egulatory Guide 1.33, November 1972 states in part, 'The following are typical safety-related activities which should be covered by written procedures....A.8.

Log Entries and Record Retention...

'dministrative Procedure A-20, Control Room Logs, Revision 9, August 20, 1979, states in part, 'The Official Record is a chronological record of events occurring during the shift...

the following is submitted in response.

Corrective action to address this violation is as follows:

1.

A letter from the Operations Engineer to the Shift Supervisors was issued on July 8, 1981 stating the importance of logging the start and termination of specific events in the Official Record.

2.

The Training section has been requested to review this violation and the use of procedure A-20, Control Room Logs, with each licensed operator during requalification training.
