OF APRIL 6, 1982 METALLURGICAL RESULTS OF CORPORATION MEETING WITH RG&E TO DISCUSS THE STEAM GENERATOR TUBE EXAMINATIONS
,On Tuesday April 6, 1982, members of the NRC staff and their consultants from Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and Franklin Research Center (FRC) met with representatives from Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E).
The purpose of the meeting was to provide technical details of the metallurgical inspections of steam generator tube samples to the NRC staff and their consultants.
The list of attendees is enclosed.
The meeting consisted of a review of, the information RG&E had presented at previous meetings with the NRC".
This was to acquaint the NRC consultants with the pertinent details of the January 25 1982 incident at the R.
E.
Ginna.Plant.
This will allow them to perform an iridependent failure mode ana'lysis to help to identify the cause of the steam 'generator tube rupture.
- This analysis will be based on the licensee's submittal and the results of independent metallurgical examinations performed by Brookhaven National
- Labs, Westinghouse and Battelle (Columbus).
After reviewing the information presented by RG&E, BNL requested that the following tube samples be supplied to them for analysis:
