Dear Mr. Crutchfield:
Rochester Gas and Electric has reviewed the NRC's March 9, 1982 letter relative to this topic.
To resolve the NRc concern, RGIEE has contracted with Westinghouse to perform a detailed review of the Ginna ESF Switchover procedure.
The intent of the Westinghouse treview will be to eliminate all unnecessary steps and streamli he required operator actions.
RGSE will then evaluate the time am ine available and time necessary to perform the switchover.
The modified procedure will ensure that adequate margin is available to ensure sufficient. core cooling and pump protection throughout the post-accident sequence.
The procedure evaluation will account for instrumentation
- errors, as well as pump flow rates determined from a hydraulic analysis of the safety systems.
It is expected that RGEE's recommendations for procedure changes and hardware modifications, if required, can be provided by June 30, 1982.
