Dear Mr. Crutchfield:
This letter is in response to your letter dated October 18, 1982 and summarizes all activities required to resolve NUREG 0737, Item III.D.3.4, Control Room Habitability.
As requested in your
- letter, we will install redundant dampers in the control room intake and exhaust ductwork which have direct access to the atmosphere to ensure that the single failure criterion is met.
Based on availability of engineering and construction
- manpower, these and all other activities previously identified to resolve this issue will be completed by July 1, 1984 or one year after the NRC Safety Evaluation on this issue, whichever is later.
Previous regulatory commitments preclude us from earlier completion.
To summarize, the remaining required activities include:
l.
Install new radiation, chlorine and ammonia detectors to automatically isolate the control room ventilation system.
2.
Install redundant dampers.
3 ~
Measure and confirm the acceptability of the residence time in the control charcoal filter.
4 ~
Relocate the ammonia tank currently outside the AVT building.
