Dear Mr. Crutchfield:

This letter is in response to a letter from Dennis M.

Crutchfield, NRC, to John E. Maier, RG&E, dated May 31, 1983 concerning the same subject.

The May 31 NRC letter is a

clarification of a December 13, 1982 Safety Evaluation Report, which transmitted a Franklin Research Center Technical Evaluation Report TER-C5257-454.

RG&E has responded to the items of interest by letters dated February 1, 1983; April 8, 1983; and May 19, 1983.

RG&E considers that our previous responses adequately address the concerns expressed in 10 CFR 50.49, and no additional information is required at this time.
