SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD ON APRIL 17, 1984 TO DISCUSS EQUIPMENT ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION FOR THE R.

E. Ginna NUCLEAR POWER PLANT On April 17, 1984 a meeting was held in Bethesda, Maryland, with repre-sentatives of RG&E.

A list of attendees is enclosed.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and resolve the outstanding environmental quali-fication issues for Ginna.

The areas discussed were,'1) the deficiencies identified in the Franklin Research Center (FRC) Technical Evaluation Report (TER), (2) the licensee's program for complying with the requirements set forth in 10 CFR 50.49 (EQ R~le),

and (3) the licensee's justification for continued operation (JCO) as required.

At the time of the meeting the plant was shut down for refueling.

The licensee stated that upon restart it would be in compliance with the rule with the possible exception of two items (resistance temperature detectors in the cold leg and selected valves) which might not get installed during the outage.

If installation was not completed, an extension request and JCOs were to be submitted.

All other JCOs cleared prior to restart.

The licensee was able to complete the installation. of all necessary equipment prior to startup and consequently no additional JCOs were requested.

The licensee was requested to document the results of the meeting and submit them formally to the NRC staff on or about June 4, 1984.
