EVENT DESCRIPTION (Continued) station was used to unload and shut down the diesel generat©y*.

The automatic starting and loading capability 6f*the diesel generator. was not impaired by this failure.

The Unit 2/3 diesel*generat~r:was. available and op~rable.

CAUSE DESCRIPTION (Continued)

  • vibration; The terminal lug was tightened, restoring remot*e speed control
  • capability.
  • As an additional precaut*ion, all governor terminal lugs on the Unit-2,*Unit-3 and Unit 2/,3 diesels were checked for tightness.

Two.previous failures of this nature have occurred as the result of loosened governor wire terminal lugs.

Because of these previous failures,

  • a check of the governor terminals was added to the annual diesel generator inspection proeedure.

Since* a third failure has occurred in spite of these annual lug inspections, further corrective action is indicated.

Accordingly,

.the station is presently evaluating alternate methods of __ PE.~ent!p.1L~~s.u:rx~.
