Dear Mr. Lear:
The NRC staff has asked about. the classification of the Microprocessor Rod Position Indication (NRPI), System which is the subject of our October 24, 1986 Technical Specification Amendment
'equest.
The entire system which is described in that amendment request is non-lE.
This classification is appropriate because the MRPI system is not required for safe. shutdown of the plant and the system is not required to operate during and/or after a
seismic event.
