Subject:
BOMB THREAT On 9/8/88, at 10:02 p.m.,
an Unusual Event was declared when licensee security was notified by the Wayne County Sheriff's department that a
bomb threat had been received.
The caller had threatened to "blow up Ginna," leaving uncertainty whether a
bomb had been placed or was being threatened.
Although security management did not consider the threat credible, the licensee increased perimeter patrols
- and, supplemented by Wayne County Sheriffs, closed access to the site.
Operations and security personnel conducted a search of the site, concentrating on areas which had been entered by non-licensee personnel since Monday, 9/5/88.
Nothing unusual was discovered during the search.
At 12:33 a.m.
on 9/9/88 the Unusual Event was terminated
- when, based on information provided by the Rochester Police Department, the licensee concluded the bomb threat was not credible.
The suspected caller has been taken into custody by 'local police.
The State of New York and IAT have been notified.
Region I will respond to press inquiries.
