Conversion to Standard Technical Specifications R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 50-244
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) is currently evaluating the potential for converting the Ginna Station Technical Specifications, as a whole or in part, to a Standard Technical Specification (STS) format.
Included with this evaluation is consideration of both internal resources and commitments and expected NRC reviewer needs.
Based on recent discussions with the
- NRC, RG&E was asked to provide formal notification of this STS evaluation study so that a TAC number could be assigned.
In order to support the evaluation study for converting the Ginna Station Technical Specifications, RG&E requests a conference call with the NRC to discuss this issue.
Specific topics include:
(1) implementation of STS by sections versus a complete conversion; (2) addressing STS requirements that are not available at Ginna Station (e.g.,
automatic switchover to sump recirculation);
and (3)
Ginna Station systems and current Technical Specification requirements not addressed by STS (e.g.,
Standby Auxiliary Feedwater system).
Discussion of these issues willsupport the evaluation study to allow RG&E to make a final determination concerning a future conversion.
RG&E also welcomes additional topics and discussions.
