Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 50-244
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Rochester Gas and Electric is in the process of procuring replacement Steam Generators for the R.E.
Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
We currently anticipate installing these replacement Steam Generators during the 1996 Refueling Outage beginning in March, 1996.
Our preliminary evaluations indicate that changeout of the generators does not involve any unreviewed safety questions.
Therefore, consistent with 10CFR50.59, we expect that we will be able to replace the generators without prior NRC approval.
- However, we do intend to keep the NRC apprised of the ongoing status of our detailed safety evaluations supporting this position.
To this end we request that the Commission make available the appropriate staff personnel to accommodate periodic meetings and conference calls with us so that appropriate updates can be provided.
