Dear Mr. Johnson:
During a conference call held June 28, 1989 between RG&E (Len
- Sucheski, George Wrobel) and the NRC (Al Johnson, David Jeng, John Ma, Neal Johnson), it was requested that RG&E provide additional explanation of two issues related to RG&E's May 26, 1987 response to the NRC's Structural Upgrade Program SER.
Attached is the requested information:
1) calculations for translating the ANSI 58.1-1982 straight wind shape and magnitudes to Ginna structures, including applicable sketches.
This data is submitted relative to Issue 52 of RG&E's May 26, 1987 response.
2) calculations related to the critical buckling stress of the diesel generator roof deck referenced in Issue 55 of the same response.
We trust that this information will allow the NRC to finalize the Structural Upgrade Program SER.
Our latest estimate of the completion of all modifications, including the Diesel Generator Building upgrade, is summer 1990.
