STORAGE OF YiIXED OXIDE FUEL By application dated December 14; 1979, the P,ochester Gas and Electric Corporation, RGEE, requested approval to irradiate four (4) mixed oxide

( IOX) fuel assemblies in the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.

Our memorandum of February 4, 19SOf requested your concurrence for prenoticino our intent to consider that application.

BY application dated Decen@er 14, 1979, RGFE requested authorizatior. to receive and store the four unirradiated YIOX fuel assemblies at Cinna.

Pe have corpleted our evaluation of t)Ie application and concluded that the activities authorized are acceptable from a safety, environmental and security standpoint.

A copy of our Safety Evaluation is attached.

Further action on this application will not be taken pending guidance rom the Cori ssion.
