IE Bulletin 79-17 Revision 1 Response R.
E. Ginna Nuclear Power-Plant, Unit 1 Docket No. 50-244
Dear Mr. Grier:
On October 24, 1979 we gave our final response to I&E Bulletin No. 79-17, dated July 26, 1979.
Since that time we have re-ceived revision 1 dated October 29,
- 1979, which clarified your definition of "stagnant, oxygenated borated water systems".
This clarification resulted in the addition of seven (7) welds to the original twenty-four (24) that were examined during the first week of October.
These additional welds are in systems where continuous flow does not exist on the safety injection pumps and charging pumps suctions.
These systems contain water which is stored in the refueling water storage tanks whose chemistry was defined in our initial response to IE Bulletin 79-17, dated August 24, 1979.
The examination of the seven (7) additional welds of these two systems will be performed during our next annual re-fueling outage utilizing the same procedures as were used on the original twenty-four (24) weld examinations.
During the interim we will continue to perform visual examinations of all normally accessible welds of the engineered safety systems at least monthly to verify continued system integrity.
