& ELECTRIC CORPORATION NOTICE OF GRANTING OF A REVISION TO RELIEF FROM ASME SECTION XI INSERVICE INSPECTION (TESTING)
RE UIREMENTS The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted a revision to the relief from certain requirements of the ASME Code, Sect'ion XI, "Rules for Inservice Inspection of Nuclear Power Plant'Components" to Rochester Gas 5 Electric Corporation.
The modified relief relates to the inservice inspection (testing) program for the R.
E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant (the facility) located in Wayne County, New York.
The ASME Code requirements are incorporated by reference into the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Part 50.
The modified relief is effective as of its date of issuance.
.The modified relief consists of the substitution of a radiographic-volumetric measurement of the reactor coolant pump casing welds for the dye penetrant examination.
In addition, the relief which allows use of 100% of reference level as the evaluation criterion for indications detected during ultrasonic examination of components has been extended from December ll, 1978 to December 1981.
The request for a revision to the relief complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended
( the Act),
and the Commission's rules and regulations.
The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules

Prior public notice of this action was not required since the granting of this modified relief from ASME Code require-

The Commission has determined that the granting of this modified relief wi11 not result in any significant environmental impact and Chat pursuant to 10 CFR
)51.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be prepared in connection with this action.
