Dear Mr. Giampusso:

Attached is Supplement A to Special Report No. 18 for Dresden Station entitled "Dresden 2 - 3 Safety Valve Investiga-tions".

This report supplements Special Report No. 18 concerning the same subject, submitted on November 14, 1972. This report provides the*status of the program of the investigation on safety valve phenomena as undertaken by Commonwealth Edison company.

The investigative program performed under the direction of the.

General Electric Company has not yet been completed. It is now expected that the General El~ctric program will be completed by ecrly summer. Subsequent to completion of the program, a meeting will be held between Commonwealth Edison Company, General Electric and the various contractors to review the results of both programs and to establish a solution to the problems. Subsequent to this meeting, a final report will be submitted to the AEC. It is expected that this report wil+ be submitted prior to September 1, 1973.
