By letter dated July 22, 1997, Florida Power and Light Company requested an amendment to Facility Operating License DPR-67 to incorporate an e'valuation of a postulated inadvertent openirig of a main steam safety valve irito the current licensing basis for St. Lucie Unit 1.

As -a result of our review of this

request, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has identified additional information which is needed to complete its assessment of this evaluation.

The specific questions are listed "on the enclosed Request for'dditional Information (RAI).
