Dear Mr. Goldberg:
The staff, with technical assistance from the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL), reviewed and evaluated the information provided by Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) in its letter dated October 12, 1994, related to a proposed alternative to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A),
Augmented Examination of Reactor Vessel.
The staff's evaluation and conclusions are contained in the Enclosure 1, the Safety Evaluation.
Based on the information submitted, the staff adopts the contractor's conclusions and recommendations presented in Enclosure 2, the Technical Letter Report.
The proposed alternatives contained in FPL's submittal are authorized pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A)(5) as they provide an acceptable level of quality and safety.
