SUBJECT:

ST.

LUCIE UNITS 1

AND 2 GROUPING OF TESTABLE HOTOR-OPERATED VALVES (HOVs)

GENERIC LETTER (GL) 89-10

Dear Hr. Goldberg:

By letter dated August 4,

1994, you informed us of your intent to reduce the dynamic testing scope of GL 89-10 by grouping of testable HOVs at St.

Lucie Units 1 and 2.

You stated that the grouping methodology is consistent with the guidance presented in Supplement 6 to GL 89-10 for grouping criteria.

We acknowledge your intent to group HOVs.

Your valve grouping will be evaluated during a future inspection.

Your letter al'so stated that you plan to defer testing of those HOVs included in the GL 89-10 program solely on the valve mispositioning criteria.

The staff will address valve mispositioning in a future generic communication.

E Sincerely, (Original Signed By)
