LUCIE PLANT, UNIT NO. 1, PROPOSAL TO RAISE THE STEAM GENERATOR TUBE,PLUG LIMIT FROM 40K to 54'he above subject application is proposed to allow the opportunity for a prior hear ing.
The margin of safety may be considered to be significantly reduced.
The tube plug limit will go from 40K-to 54K',
a 35%%uo increase.
The basis for this proposal is (1) a 35%%uo increase in the total sum of the technical areas of wall degradation, ECT uncertainty, and plant operation uncertainty for the next cycle appears to be significant and (2) the present 40K number is used in almost all PMR's, and the staff over the years felt that this was the most appropriate number given all the uncertainties involved.
A final determination will need to be made after the review is complete.
