Response : Additional Information Requested Tom :
Thank you for your email. This is to confirm that the NRC staff (the staff) needs additional information to complete its technical review of Entergy' s exemption request for Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, dated May 16, 2017 (ML17142A358) . I agree with your email that the staff needs responses to RAls 8-5, 8-7, 8-10 and 8-11 for Holtec's HI-STORM 100 Amendment No. 12 (ML17181A015) as applicable to Entergy's exemption request. In addition, the staff also needs Figure 4.111.4, from HI-STORM 100 Amendment request No.12, in order to complete its review.
In order to schedule our technical review, please provided your response by September 1, 2017. If you are unable to meet this response date, please notify us by August 23, 2017, with your new submittal date and the reasons for the delay.
Please reference CAC No. L25219 in future correspondence related to this licensing action . If you have any questions, please contact me at (301) 415-1018.

[External_Sender] Additional Information Requested Yen ,
On July 21 , 2017 , the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) submitted to Holtec International a Request for Additional Information (RAI) (ML17181A015) following Holtec's amendment request (Amendment 12) to the NRC to revise Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No.
1014 for the HI -STORM 100 Multipurpose Canister (MPC) Storage System . Holtec's proposed certificate amendment seeks to include, among other things , a new heat load pattern for
MPC-68M to enable a more efficient packaging of fuel and changes to the loading configuration of damaged fuel canisters .
On May 16, 2017, Vermont Yankee (VY) submitted an Exemption Request from certain requirements of 10 CFR 72.212 and 10 CFR 72.214 to support our dry fuel loading campaign (BVY 17-006-or- ML17142A358). A portion of VY's exemption request incorporated by reference Holtec's above discussed amendment request. VY and Holtec have reviewed the RAl 's and identified 4 of the questions which are pertinent to our exemption request: 8-5, 8-7 ,
8-10, 8-11 . These four questions have been discussed with you and the NRC Staff who have confirmed that the subject questions are applicable to VY's request and as such should be responded to support our request.
Accordingly, based upon our review and the Staffs concurrence , VY understands that additional information is requested to support VY's exemption request. The information requested is as follows :
Please provide a response to RAI questions 8-5, 8-7 , 8-10 and 8-11 as provided in the letter to Holtec dated July 21 , 2017 (ML17181A015). These questions should be answered as applicable to the VY exemption request dated May 16, 2017 (ML17142A358), as deemed necessary to support the Staff's review of the exemption request.
In addition , in VY's May 16, 2017 submittal , Attachment 2 contained select supporting FSAR pages from the HI-STORM 100 Amendment request No.12. It has been identified that Figure 4.111.4 should have been included as part of Attachment 2. Accordingly , as part of VY's response to the *above requested information :
VY will also provide Figure 4.111.4 from the HI-STORM 100 Amendment request No.12.
If you could confirm that I have properly captured the request for additional information, that would be helpful.
