SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD IN BETHESDA, MARYLAND.ON OCTOBER 14, 1982 REGARDING PIPIN& CONFIRMATORY ISSUES A summary of the issues discussed and the actions taken is given below, l.

Issue pertaining to the minimum piping wall thickness requirement-FP8L will furnish by 10/15/82, the design specification portion that will allow traceability to the pressures used.

2.

Issue pertaining to,the relief valve discharge forces - the analysis has been done by Ebasco and the data will be provided BNL by 10/15/82.

3.

Issue pertaining to the stress intensification factors for weldolets-FPEL will use two screening facotrs as noted below, a ~

b.

For systems receiving less than or equal to 1000 "realistic" thermal cycles as defined in NC/ND 3611,2, equation 2, no additional work is required.

For systems with greater than 1000 "realistic" thermal cycles;

l. If the calculated stress is less than ~ allowable (equations 10 or ll) no additional work required.
2. If present calculated:stress is greater than

~E allowable, FPEL wi'll have to recalculate with S.I,F.

based on the approximation of Bonney Force data as shown, in the attached Figure 1.

For equation ll this applies to the thermal component only.

3.

Equations 8 and 9 are ok using the present Bonney Force S.I.F..

4.

In addition to the above screening factors, Ebasco has proposed an inclusion of a temperature cutoff.

5.

Ebasco will propose a definition of realistic thermal cycles, Qriglnal S~gD<<
