~ i%7 Subject; Endangered or Threatened Species Assessment - St. Lucie, Unit 2, Operating Lciense Stage Review The Environmental Engineering Branch has completed its assessment of the continued operation of St. Lucie Unit 1, and the remaining construction and future operation of St. Lucie Unit 2 on endangered and threatened species inhabiting the St. Lucie site.

A copy of this assessment (for your information is enclosed.

lte have concluded that remaining construction and operation of both St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 are not likely to have an adverse impact on threatened or endangered species known to inhabit or utilize the site, nor is any impact likely to 'occur to near by critical habitat.

Specific monitoring programs and changes to existing programs are recommended in the assessment.

He understand that these recommendations will be reviewed by you, finalized and included in the St. Lucie Environmental Protection Plan.

Based on the results of the assessment, we conclude that initiation 'of formal consultation with the NMFS for licensing of Unit 2 is not necessary.
