The Florida Power and Light Company has applied for an operating license for the St. Lucie Plant Unit No. 2, which is under construction and nearing com-pletion.

The St. Lucie site consists of two nuclear units (1 and 2), of'hich No.

1 is operational.

The site is located on Hutchinson Island in St. Lucie County about halfway between the cities of Fort Pierce and Stuart on the east coast of Florida.

The location of the site is shown in the enclosed map.

An Environmental Impact Statement was prepared at the construction permit stage

~ of the project, and the staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Corrmission is required to prepare an',.EIS as part of this application review.

The NRC staff is planning a site visit on February 18, 1981 in conjunction with the environmental review and invites you and your representative's attendance.
