Docket No. 50-389 Gentlemen:

On Harch 14, 1980, pursuant to your request (Tr. 867, 879-85), Florida Power and Light provided information concerning the performance of the diesel generator units at St. Lucie Plant, Unit No. 1.

Your February 19, 1980 Order states that within two weeks after service of that information, the parties may file in response additional proppsed findings or such other coments as they deem appropriate.

Hr. Robert Fitzpatrick's testimony (fol. Tr. 624 at p.. 17) used 3 x 10-2 as a consereative estimate of diesel generator unreliability.

The combined unreliability of two diesel generatora" therefore, would be 9 x 10-4.

Since licensee's repor ted 7 x 10-4 combined unreliability is slightly more favorable than the 9 x 10-4 assumed by the Staff, no additional response by the Staff is necessary.

The Staff's perspective on the r elevance of St. Lucie Plant, Unit No.

1 diesel data to the instant proceeding is reported at Tr, 732-734.

Sincerely, cc:

Hartin Harold Hodder, Esq.
