EVALUATION OF RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETIN NO. 90-02 FOR DRESDEN STATION, UNIT 2 (TAC NO. 77265)
Jn a letter dated April 26, 1990, Commonwealth Edison Company responded to NRC Bulletin No. 90-02 titled, "Loss of Thermal Margin Caused by Channel Box Bow.
11 In this response, you indicated that 303 channel boxes were being used* *.
for a second bundle lifetime in Dresden Unit 2.
The response also described the methodology utilized to determine the channel box bow Critical Power Ratio (CPR) adjustment for Dresden 2, Cycle 12, with the presumption that this methodology will also be used to determine any necessary CPR adjustment for Cycle 13.
In a submittal dated September 21, 1990, you provided a response to the staff's request for additional information regarding the continued reuse of channel boxes in Cycle 13.
We have reviewed your response and determined that it satisfactorily resolves.
the issues discussed in NRC Bulletin 90-02 for Cycle 13 and that its appli-cation to any future channel reuse must be evaluated on a cycle specific basis.
A copy of the staff's evaluation is enclosed.
