NRC Generic Letter 89-10 <Generic Letter) extended the recommendations outlined in Bulletin 85-03 and its supplement to all safety-related motor-operated valves <MOV) and position-changeable MOVs in safety-related systems.

Additionally, the Generic Letter required a response wi~hin six months regarding compliance with the recommended actions and proposed schedule for MOV testing and surveillance.

In Reference (b),

Commonwealth Edison Company <CECo) indicated that a meeting would be arranged to discuss CECo's proposed actions to address the Generic Letter.

This letter provides an update on the status of the meeting, a schedule for the Generic Letter response <reporting requirement "l."), and an alternative schedule for the establishment of a pr9gram description <schedule items "i.l" and "i.2").

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission June 28, 1990 At this time, a CECo/NRC staff meeting is scheduled for July 3, 1990, to discuss CECo's proposed actions to address the Generic Letter.

Subsequent to this meeting, CECo expects to submit the Generic Letter response on July 31, 1990.

This response date will allow sufficient time for consideration of NRC feedback from the meeting.

Following submittal of the response, the MOV program description is expected to be established by the end of September 1990.

CECo appreciates this opportunity to discuss the Generic Letter with the staff. Please address any questions concerning this response to this office.
