ENDANGERED SPECIES CONSULTATION Re:

Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2 The Co11111onwealth Edison Company has been operating the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 2 since December 22, 1969 under a provisional license *. We.

are now processing the documentation required for a full-term license for.the Unit.

The approximate geographical coordinates for the station, which is located in Grundy County, Illinois, are 41° 20' N and 88° 15 1 W.

A map of the site location and information on.and a conceptual map of pertfoent transmission lines are enclosed.

In conjunction with the process we are reviewing the Final Environmental Statement (FES) published in November 1973.

Based on our interpretation of Section 7(c) of.the Endangered Species Act Amendments of 1078 (PL-95-532) and the fact that construction of the Dresden Station began prior to November 10, 1978, initiation of consultation is not required.

However, to assure a thorough review, we request that your office provide any information you have on the distribution of any plants or animals listed or proposed to be listed as end~ngered or threatened species and which may be present in the vicinity of the Dresden Station or its issociated transmission corridors.

We would appreciate your processing of our above request as soon as possible.
