SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR WITHHOLDING INFORMATION FROM PUBLIC DISCLOSURE FOR BYRON, UNIT NO. 1 (CAC NO. MF9854)
Dear Mr. Hanson:
By letter dated June 15, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17170A146), you submitted four affidavits. Two affidavits were dated October 7, 2016, one affidavit was dated December 7, 2016, and one affidavit was dated May 23, 2017, and were executed by Gayle Elliott of AREVA Inc., requesting that the information contained in the following documents be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Title 1O of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 2, Section 2.390:
Engineering Information Record, 51-9238120-002, "PWSCC Evaluation of UHP Cavitation Peening for Byron and Braidwood Reactor Vessel Head Penetrations," dated October 7, 2016 Calculation Summary Sheet, 32-9241722-001, "Byron & Braidwood Peening Residual Plus Operating Stress Analysis," dated October 7, 2016 Special Process Qualification Record, 150-8086004-001, "Qualification of the Cavitation Peening Process for Reactor Vessel Closure Head (RVCH) Nozzles," dated December 7, 2016 Engineering Information Record, 51-8094406-000, "Summary Report, RVCH Peening Implementation, Byron, Unit 1," dated May 1, 2017 The affidavits state that the submitted information should be considered exempt from mandatory public disclosure for the following reasons:
(c) The information includes test data or analytical techniques concerning a process, methodology, or component, the application of which results in a competitive advantage for AREVA.
