Weekly Status-Report Assessment of Embedment Plates Status as of April 16, 1987 Commonwealth Edison Company Dresden Station. - Units 2 and 3 Quad Cities Station -

Units 1 and 2 April 16, 1987

I.

Introdtiction This is the si~th of a series of weekly r~ports which address the effort to resolve the issue regarding-the embedment plates which were constructed with strap anchor spacing other than those used in the design.

The purpose of this-report is to update the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region III, regarding the status for this effort.

This sixth weekly report consists of a summary of work performed during last week.

II.

Dresden Station*

Per the Milestone Bar Chart (Attachment 1), a walkdown at Diesden is continuing..

-The previous Weekly Status Report had indicated that some ultrasonic test results have shown strap anch.or spacings of 24" (+/- l") on center.

It was also mentioned that the 24" spacing will have a minimal impact on the overall assessment program.

Analytical confirmation of this is in progress.

It was also mentioned that the 24.. " spacing appeared to be the result of either a detailer-fabricator interface not recorded on the detail dra~ing or a misinterpretation of *the detail drawing.

We are continuing our effprts to understand what may have happened.

    • e*

Attachments 4A and SA show the current cumulative status.*

of work progress.. Effects of 2 4 '.' spacing of strap

presented in attachments.

III.

Quad Cities Station Per the Milestone Bar Chart (Attachment 1), the walkdown at Quad Citi.es is continuing.

The current cumulative status is indicated in Attachment 4B.*

A number of ultrasoriic test res~lt~ have been received

.for evaluation.

These test results indicate a strap anchor spacing of 18" on center~ Attachment SB shows the present status of ultrasonid testing data~
