The Pre-Outage Review for the Dresden Unit 3 trial outage inspection was conducted on September 3-6, at the Dresden site.

Members of the review team included J. Konklin, J. Barker and R. Lloyd of RCPB, R. Parkhill and S. Klein (consultant) of QA Branch, F. Hawkins (9/3) and R. Hass (9/5) of Region III, and R. Correia of Vendor Branch.

In addition, the outgoing Senior Resident Inspector, T~ Tongue, attended the entrance meeting, and the incoming Senior Resident Inspector (first duty day September 3), L. McGregor, attended both the entrance and exit meetings.

The team members reviewed available informa-tion in work packages related to the upcom'i 11g outage 1 and interviewed members of the utility's management and technical staff regarding the functioning of and organizational interfaces among the design, procurement, installation and testing activities.

The Director of IE was briefed on September 6 regarding the Fort Calhoun Pre-Outage Review and work package selections.

The briefing meeting, which included RCPB, QA Branch and Vendor Branch, also involved discussions of the upcoming Fort Calhoun Outage Design Inspection and Outage Vendor Inspection.

Near Term Planned Activities The Fort Calhoun Outage Design Inspection (ODI) and Outage Vendor Inspection (OVI) are scheduled to begin on September 16, with the exit meeting planned for September 27~

QA Branch has selected 19 modification packages to review during the ODI.

Vendor Branch has selected five vendors from five different modification packages for inspection during the OVI.

J' J. G. Pa rt 1 ow, IE RCPB and QA Branch will meet with the NRR Fort Calhoun Project Manager on September 9 to discuss the selected modification packages, with emphasis on any associated licensing issues.
