Dear:

Mr. Denton:

In the* re-ferenced letter-your* stafr** stated it. was their-*

understanding that the models used in the LOCA analysis for Quad Cities Units 1. and 2_ (updated FSAR Section 6. 2 *. 7 *. 1.) were those originally

. approved. in a. letter dated Feb.ruary :4,. 1981 as. described. in the: GE:.

  • Topical. Report NED0-20566 Rev *. 1. and. Rev.: 4.

W*e would like'.. to: a.dd:. the.

following addi ti anal. clar i ficati.on.

.. The LOCA analysis 'for Quad Cities Units 1 and 2 as documented in our updated FSAR (Section 6.2.7.1) is contained in NED0~24146A which was issued-in April 1979 a~ a draft version of NED0-20566.

Subsequently, General. Electric submitted model improvements (NEDE-20566 P, NED0-20566-1 Revision 1 and NE00-20566-4 Revision ~) that were approved by the NRC an*

February 4~ 1981.

Only a major effect of these model improvements has been to-reduce PCT for BWR/3's by 1500f (as estimated by GE).

The above inf9rmation is supplied only as a clarification and does not change our conclusion that the requirements of TMI action items II.K.3.30 and II.K.3.31 have been completed for. Quad Cities Station Units 1 and 2.

One. signed original and f o~ty (40) copies of this letter are provided for your use.
