RETRACTION OF REQUEST FOR AN EXTENSION OF THE 18.5 MONTH OPERATING PERIOD STIPULATED FOR DRESDEN, UNIT 3, DUE TO THE CORE SHROUD CRACKING ISSUE (TAC NO. M96567)
Dear Ms. Johnson:
By Tetter dated September 12, 1996, Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) reque~ted an extension of the 18.5 month operating period stipulated for Dresden, Unit 3, due to the core shroud cracking issue.
ComEd had requested that the 18.5 month hot operating tycle be extended to 20.5 months t~
accommodate unplanned events that impacted the operating cycle.
By letter dated February 14, 1997, ComEd retracted the request.
As* a resul't of the combination of the revised refueling-outage-start date and a forced outage, ComEd no longer needs the additional time in the operating cycle prior to installation of the core shroud repair.
Dresden~ Unit J, shut down on March 28, 1997, for the current refueling outage (D3Rl4).
The core shfoud
.repair is *scheduled to take place during refueling outage D3Rl.4.
Accordingly-,
the request for an extension is b~ing treated as withdrawn.
