VERNON, VERMONT June 22, 2017 Secretary US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Attn: Rulemakings & Adjudications Staff Re: Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station; Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.; consideration of Approval of Transfer of License and Conforming Amendment

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

As duly elected officials of the Town of Vernon, Vermont, the Selectboard wishes to formally submit support for the above mentioned Transfer of License.

As a community faced with the challenge of moving forward in the wake of Vermont Yankee's closure, residents are optimistic that reuse of the property will be beneficial. The Planning and Economic Development Commission has diligently studied scenarios that would dovetail with Vernon's strong agricultural and electric generation history. Officials will continue to be involved in long term planning for the development of the property.

Additionally, the Board has met with NorthStar executives and researched their past projects. We are supportive ofNorthstar's plan to decommission the plant safely and efficiently and, as Intervenors in the state's PSB process, will continue to work diligently to assure that the plan is in Vernon's best interests.

We urge the NRC to rule in favor of this transfer in the spirit ofreturning the Vermont Yankee property to a productive site once again.
