In Reference 1, NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra Energy Seabrook) submitted an application for a renewed facility operating license for Seabrook Station Unit 1 in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Parts 50, 51, and 54.
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission SBK-L-17098 I Page 2 In Reference 2, the NRC requested additional information to complete the review of the application related to Alkali Silica Reaction and Building Deformation Monitoring Programs with a response date listed as June 14, 2017.
As discussed in Reference 3, on May 9, 2017, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff held a public meeting to discuss the license renewal application (LRA) for the Seabrook Station, Unit 1 (Seabrook). The focus of the meeting was to discuss the status of NextEra's building deformation analyses related to alkali-silica reaction, and NextEra's license amendment request 16-03 (Reference 4).
As discussed initially at the meeting on May 9, 2017 and subsequently with NRC staff the responses to this set of RAls are similar to draft RAls received for LAR 16-03. To ensure consistency of responses it is recommended that both sets of responses are developed in parallel. As such, NextEra Energy Seabrook proposes to extend the current response date from June 14, 2017 to 60 days from final issuance of LAR 16-03 RAls in order to allow for submittal of a coordinated and consistent response. This request has been discussed with the NRC License Renewal Project Manager, Lois James.
