Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This letter is in response to NRC Staff requests to clarify and update, where required, the recirculation pump trip (RPT) modification installation schedules at Dresderi and Quad Cities which were given in References (a) and (b).
For Quad Cities Unit 2, problems outlined in Reference (a) may pervent implementation of the RPT modifications during
.the current refueling outage.
In no case, however, will implementation occur later than December 31, 1980.
For Dresden Unit 2, a shutdown for refueling will begin no later than December 31, 1980, and the RPT installation
- will be complete and operable prior to startup from that re-fueling. outage.
All other schedules pro~ided in References (a) and (b) remain unchanged.
As iridicated in those references,
- Commonwealth.Edison Co. intends to install the RPT.modifications prior to the dates given if equipment is available and outages -
of sufficient length occur (estimated 3-4 week outage requited).
