Under a National Science Foundatio~ grant, the Division of Environmental Sciences, Columbia. University, is performing a follow-up survey of* all environ-mental impact statements issued during October and ~ovember 1973.
According to the 102 Monitor, the following projects were proposed by your agency:
.Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Un~ts 2 ~rid3 Illinois Limerick Station, Units 1 and 2, P~nnsylvania,.1973 1973 Haddam Nee\\<,. Nuclear.Pow~r Plant, Connecticut, 'i973 Can you please assist us in either answering the followi.ng questions or by referring U:s to persons who can provide answers.
A telephone-response to (212) 694~3464 is quite satisfactory since we do not intend for this request to be-come burdensome.
- i. If completed, when was the approximate projec*t completion date?
- 2.
Wa~ the project completed as describ~d in the environmental impact statement?
- 3.
Has a follow-up environmental monitoring program been* conducted?.
- 4.
Was the environmental impa~t accurately forecast?
- 5.
Were any further* environmental issues raised other ~han those ider.ti**
fied in the statement and letters of comment.
The eventual purpose of this study is.to provide insights' into the rela-tionships between environmental impact statements and project outcomes, thus providing information that can be used in adjusting environmental impact state-m~nt preparation and-requirements.
In_ our.initial inquiries concerning actions proposed by EISs prepared in late 1973, we are. finding that a_ significant proportion may not have been started or have.been reduced in scale.. If you are interested in receiving a copy of our final report next fall, please let us know."
