Subject:

Redacted Version of NEI Security Event Mitigation Assessment White Paper Project Number: 689

Dear Mr. Andersen:

On May 3, 2017, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI)1 and the industry transmitted our Security Event Mitigation Assessment (SEMA) white paper to the NRC for review and endorsement. Reflecting its contents, the document was marked as SECURITY-RELATED INFORMATION - WITHHOLD UNDER 10 CFR 2.390. We received a subsequent request from the staff to provide a redacted version of the SEMA white paper which removes the security-related information of concern. That version is attached to this letter.

Questions concerning the SEMA white paper should be directed to Mr. David Young at (202) 739-8127 or dly@nei.org.

Sincerely, Susan Perkins-Grew Attachment 1 The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) is the organization responsible for establishing unified industry policy on matters affecting the nuclear energy industry, including the regulatory aspects of generic operational and technical issues. NEI's members include all entities licensed to operate commercial nuclear power plants in the United States, nuclear plant designers, major architect/engineering firms, fuel cycle facilities, nuclear materials licensees, and other organizations and entities involved in the nuclear energy industry.
