NRC INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-387/98-10AND 50-388/98-10
Dear Mr. Byram:
On October 12, 1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Susquehanna
Steam
Electric Station (SSES) Unit 15, 2 reactor facilities. The inspections covered routine

activities by the resident inspectors,
and announced inspections by a Region
I Emergency
Preparedness
Specialist, Region
I Radiation Specialists,
and Region
I Physical Security
Specialists.
The enclosed report presents the results of these inspections.
The inspectors-
discussed the findings of these inspections with Mr. G. Kuczynski, General Manager SSES,
and others of your staff, at an exit meeting at the completion of the inspection period.
During the 6-week period of inspection, your conduct of activities was characterized
by
safe operation and generally conservative decision making.
Within the area of plant support, your radiological environmental monitoring, radioactive
liquid and gaseous effluent control and security programs were effectively implemented.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of this letter
and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
