MEETINGGOALS:

Provide reviewers with information necessary for them to understand and concur with the changes PPL has made since RAI submittal.

Provide common understanding ofwhere the SSES ITS submittal stands (history and how responses were provided).

Demonstrate that the new proposed SSES Changes are needed and for the most part do not aQ'ect Technical specification Requriemnts. Where there is a technical change, SSES is willingto provide any needed support to ensure NRC review is fullysupported.

Ifissues are identified, leave with a clear and agreed upon common understanding ofwhat they are and an understanding ofa potential success path for resolution ofeach issue. Use open item form. Leave copies ofthe open item form with reviewer, Bob Tjader, and VicNerses for their information. Include copies ofmark-ups refiecting the change where appropriate.

HISTORY OF SSES SUBMITTAL:

a. Submitted in August 1996.
b. First review meeting November 1996.
c. RAIprovided to PPL January/February/March 1997.
d. Several resolution meetings on RAIs and exchange ofunofBcial correspondence.

f. Met.withNRC on 12/10 to discuss CTS changes and determined which should be maintained and or addressed via ITS.
g. Met with NRC in January to review RAIresponse and need for any additional information. Also discussed additional changes.
h. Meet with NRC today to review the changes made since the January meeting and any others as necessary'.

CHANGES HAVEBEEN MADETO:

a. Incorporate both approved and pending TS changes,
b. Incorporate NRC approved TSTF's,
c. Incorporate clarifications to assure proper interpretation ofthe specs by all users (NRC and PPL),
d. Incorporate clarifications to assure compliance,
e. Assure safe operation.

PPL CHANGES (OPS):

PPL changes

- These are changes which'PPL has identified through the course of the implementation phase'which has been going on for almost two years.

The changes can be categorized into the followinggeneral categories:

1. Typographical errors,
2. Design description changes for clarity and technical accuracy and consistency (these do not change TS requirements)
3. Design description changes for accuracy and clarity that result in a technical change to ITS requirements
4. Support document changes that do not affect the SSES ITS
