REVIEW OF TOPICAL REPORT PL-NF-90-001, SUPPLEHENT 2
FOR SUS(UEHANNA STEAN ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1
AND 2 (TAC NOS.
H93267
& H93268)
Dear Hr. Byram:
By letter dated August 1,
- 1995, Pennsylvania Power and Light Company submitted the licensing Topical Report PL-NF-90-001, "Application of Reactor Analysis Hethods for BWR Design and Analysis," Supplement 2.
The report documents two updates to the current licensing methodology.
First, the CASHO-3G lattice physics code will be used in place of the CPH-2 code as input to the 3-D simulation methods.
- Second, the ANF-B critical power correlation will be used in place of the XN-3 correlation to establish HCPR operating limits.
In parallel with these
- changes, PP&L will update the current POWERPLEX core monitoring system to the POWERPLEX-II monitoring system.
The staff has reviewed the submitted report and the evaluation reflecting partial approval is enclosed.
Specifically, the rotated bundle analysis methodology is being reviewed separately and has not been approved in the staff's evaluation,
- however, PP&L can continue to use the currently approved methodology but can incorporate the ANF-B critical power correlation into the rotated bundle analysis.
We understand that you will be submitting changes to the Technical Specifications for the plants based on approval of this topical report in the near future.
If you have any questions regarding the staff's evaluation please contact me at 301-415-1402.
, Sincerely,
/S/,
Chester
