BMR SAFETY RELIEF VALVE PERFORMANCE

Dear Mr. Byram:

I am extending an invitation to Region I licensees to participate with the NRC's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and Region I representatives in a discussion of Boiling Mater Reactor (BWR) Safety relief valve performance issues.

The meeting is intended to be an exchange of information concerning the subject of safety relief valve leakage, corrective actions that have been implemented to address setpoint drift, and associated issues.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 1996, at the Sheraton Valley Forge (610-337-2000),

Valley Forge, PA.

The meeting is open for public observation and will be attended by NRC Region I, NRR and other NRC staff.

We request that you consider sending up to two members of your staff who are associated with the evaluation of safety relief valve performance.

To make the meeting as productive as possible,'lease provide a preliminary list of questions or topics which you would like to pursue at the meeting to K. Kolaczyk of the Region I staff at (610) 337-5327, and indicate who will represent you at the meeting, by April 12.

Those questions and issues will form the bases for additional discussions.
