SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE REVISED NRC SYSTEMATIC ASSESSMENT OF LICENSEE PERFORMANCE (SALP)
PROGRAM The NRC is reviewing its Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) program and requests public comment on the program and implementation of the program since July 19, 1993.
The SALP program was last revised on May 19, 1993, to improve the focus on significant performance
- issues, communication with licensees, and licensees'nderstanding of SALP results.
This review is being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the SALP program changes in improving the program.
The public comments will assist the NRC in making the SALP program a more effective tool for communicating with the regulated industry and the public, and in meeting the NRC's responsibility for public health and safety.
The enclosed Federal Re ister notice describes the review in detail, outlines issues for comment, and explains how comments can be submitted.
Comments should be provided by August 31,
- 1995, as provided in the notice.
All comments will be made available for public inspection.
We look forward to receiving your comments.
