inspection
conducted
by
Ms.
M. Banerjee,
and Mr. B. J.
McDermott from May 16,
1995 through
July 4,
1995, at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station
(SSES),
Salem
Township,
This report also includes
a review of Fire Protection
issues
conducted
by Mr. N. J.
Blumberg from July 10 through
13,
1995.
Areas
relevant to the health
and safety of the public examined during the inspection
are described
in the enclosed report.
At the conclusion of the inspection,
the inspectors
summarized their preliminary findings with Mr. H.
G. Stanley
and other members of your staff.
The Unit
1 restart
and associated
power uprate testing were observed to be
well controlled with good management
involvement
and oversight.
A review of Licensee
Event Reports
(LER) during this period identified that
eight supplemental
reports
are overdue
by at least six months,
and in some
cases
greater
than
a year.
guestions
were raised regarding the adequacy of
the system
used for tracking the supplemental
reports at Susquehanna.
This
issue will be unresolved
pending additional
information on the process
used
for tracking supplemental
LERs and implementation of corrective actions.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
