By letter dated March 24,

1994, Pennsylvania Power and Light Company requested relief from the Code hydrostatic test requirements in connection with the replacement of two drain valves on the "B" loop of the reactor recirculation system of Susquehanna, Unit 2.

The staff has reviewed the submittal and finds the relief request and the proposed alternative to a Code hydrostatic test acceptable.

The enclosed safety evaluation provides the results of the staff's review of the relief request.

The relief requested in your letter of March 24, 1994, for the two 2-inch drain valves, 243F051B and 243F052B, is granted pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(ii).
