This letter refers to the announced
safety inspection conducted by Dr. J. Jang of this office
on July 12-16, '1993 of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. NPF-14 and NPF-22 at
the Pennsylvania Power &Light Company Corporate Office, Allentown and Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station, Berwick, PA, and to the discussion of our findings held by Dr. Jang
with Mr. Doty at the Corporate Office and with Mr. G. Kuczynske at the Station and other
members of your staff at the conclusion of'the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection included the radiological environmental monitoring
program (REMP) and the capability for assessing
dose to the public as described in the NRC
Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter.
Within these areas,
the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, we noted that you continued to maintain effective
implementation of the REMP and dose assessment
capability.
We also noted that the
responsible individuals were qualified and knowledgeable with respect to implementation of
the REMP and dose assessment
capability.
No safety concerns or violations of NRC
requirements
were identified.
