SUSQUEHA'NNA COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-387/92-28

AND 50-388/92-28

This letter refers to a routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. Carl Woodard and

Ms. Leanne Kay of this office on October 26-30, 1992, at the Susquehanna

Steam Electric

Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania.

This inspection was conducted to determine the current

status of your actions to address

several issues, including molded case circuit breaker testing,

requests for engineering,

degraded grid voltage relay setpoints, and the recent trip of an

emergency diesel generator during testing.

The details of this inspection are provided in the

enclosed inspection report.

The results of this inspection were discussed with Mr. Gene Stanley and other members of

the PPScL staff at the conclusion of the inspection and in a subsequent

telephone conference

by Mr. Woodard with Mr. Stanley on November 2, 1992.

Although our inspectors noted an

area for improvement, with regard to the emergency diesel generators,

there were no

outstanding safety issues identified.
